Support Forum

Every time that you post a problem, PLEASE add the Joomla and the extension's versions and revisions (for example: Joomla 3.3.6, Contact Enhanced 3.3.5), PHP version and Server's Operating System. If you only manage only one site it is easier if you edit your profile and just add that information to your signature. Don't forget to add a detailed description of the problem. If possible, write down all steps to simulate the problem.

Before submitting a new post, PLEASE make sure you are running the latest version, test in different browsers (IE, FF, Chrome,..) and clear Joomla and browser's cache after every change you make.

Also, most questions are already answered in our FAQ and in iFAQ and Contact Enhanced documentation pages.

Not resizing or cropping images

1 year 1 week ago #26883 by sophe
It doesn't matter which format I try, the images showing in the related article boxes are always the original size..?
I'm using Joomla 3 and 3.12 pro (just bought)
thanks,
Sophie

Dear Sophie,

That's odd. I have just tested locally and I couldn't reproduce this behavior.
What's the image source setting in the Plugin Options?
If you are using the first <img> element as the image source, then please keep in mind that Ideal Related Articles will only resize images stored in the Joomla images/... directory.

Best regards,

Thank you - that makes sense, but unfortunately my images are not in that directory; is there any way of directing it to the correct directory where my images are? Otherwise I'm not going to be moving all images and therefore changing every link manually..
Thanks in advance!
Sophie

Dear Sophie,

Joomla's image directory is [path to Joomla]/images/. It's avised to use that image directory for several reasons, one of them is integration with other extensions and for security reasons. The resized images will be saved to [Path to Joomla]/images/resize/
Right now there's no way to change the image directory.

Again, thanks for your reply. That's a pain, because I probably wouldn't have spent the money it at this point if it were just going to be text. Ho hum. Not incredibly happy, I have to say.
Does it actually say anywhere that only images in that specific folder will be resized? I couldn't find it..

The images are under the folder /images, but in sub directories - I suppose that makes a difference, right?
Though how you expect a website to hold all of it's images in only one folder without dividing them up into various categories I don't know - it seems a bit daft! That would mean that I would have a thousand images all under one folder...?

It should work under any subdirectory of [Joomla]/images/. I'm sorry if I wasn't clear.

Please allow me a day or two to investigate this issue.

OK, this problem is solved!
The automatic resizing of images wasn't the Ideal Related Articles plugin's fault; it was due to to the plugin "Content - Resize image on the fly and cache" which was enabled.
Douglas very kindly helped me to re-order the plugin list putting the "Content - Resize image on the fly and cache" above the plugin "Ideal related articles" and voilà, problem solved!
I hope this helps someone else.
Thank you Douglas for your patience :-)
