Every time that you post a problem, PLEASE add the Joomla and the extension's versions and revisions (for example: Joomla 3.3.6, Contact Enhanced 3.3.5), PHP version and Server's Operating System. If you only manage only one site it is easier if you edit your profile and just add that information to your signature. Don't forget to add a detailed description of the problem. If possible, write down all steps to simulate the problem.

Before submitting a new post, PLEASE make sure you are running the latest version, test in different browsers (IE, FF, Chrome,..) and clear Joomla and browser's cache after every change you make.

Open Street Map vs. Google Maps

Hi, Douglas.

I have used your Contact Enhanced extension for years, with great success. However, I've had to turn my back on Google Maps (used in Contact Enhanced and Store Locator) and now use OpenStreet Map. I was burned by Google charging or attempting to charge me over $700+/- for going over the limit. It was a hacker who managed to get a Google Map module from Waynesboro, TN making repeated requests to Clifton, TN that drove the numbers out of sight. Both of these towns are in the same county, and rivals of each other in many ways. This didn't help.

Now with Open Street Map I've avoided the problem. So my question is, is it possible you might consider making OpenStreet Map an option, in addition to Google Maps? My other option is to do a screenshot of the Google map and link the image back to the Google Maps. Not as snazzy, but effective.

OpenStreetMap is already integrated into the component (via "Leaflet" which is a maps library that you can use with multiple tile providers):

Dear Pat,

Building on Yosh's insight, I want to highlight that OpenStreetMaps is integrated into the Contact Enhanced Component, albeit with fewer features compared to our comprehensive offerings for Google Maps.

Regarding the Ideal Store Locator Plugin, it's intricately tied to the Google Maps API. Adapting it to use two different libraries would be a complex task. However, if you're interested in sponsoring the development of an extension that supports both OpenStreetMaps and Google Maps or just OpenStreetMaps, I'd be more than happy to discuss the possibilities.
