Support Forum

Every time that you post a problem, PLEASE add the Joomla and the extension's versions and revisions (for example: Joomla 3.3.6, Contact Enhanced 3.3.5), PHP version and Server's Operating System. If you only manage only one site it is easier if you edit your profile and just add that information to your signature. Don't forget to add a detailed description of the problem. If possible, write down all steps to simulate the problem.

Before submitting a new post, PLEASE make sure you are running the latest version, test in different browsers (IE, FF, Chrome,..) and clear Joomla and browser's cache after every change you make.

Also, most questions are already answered in our FAQ and in iFAQ and Contact Enhanced documentation pages.

adding translations

13 years 6 months ago #3999 by paul
Hi!

I'm probably missing something really obvious, but I can't seem to figure out how to add a translation (Japanese) to my Contact Enchanced contact form with JoomFish.

I'd like to translate the contact's details, and also the contact form fields.

Could you let me know how to do this with JoomFish or if there is another way.

Thanks!

Paul

Dear Paul,

For the contact Details you have to download the JoomFish contentelements here:
ideal.fok.com.br/support/forum...appear-in-other-languages.html

For the custom fields, please read this thread:

Dear Douglas,

Thank you very much for your quick and helpful response!
I've managed to translate most of the contact form using the methods you suggested.
However, I couldn't figure out how to translate individual radio options.
Could you teach me how to do that?

The radio items I need to translate are on this page:

pau.lu/main/index.php?option=c...contact&id=1&Itemid=67&lang=ja

Thanks again

Paul

Dear Paul,

The radio buttons, checklists and select options are translated just like the other fields with a minor change, each option will have it's own translation so it will look something like this:
CE_SUBJECT_FACE2FACE |CE_SUBJECT_ONLINE |CE_SUBJECT_REWRITING |CE_SUBJECT_OTHER

And in your language file you will have to add each one of this strings and their translations.

If this was not clear, please let me know and I'll try to give you more examples.

Dear Douglas,

Thanks again for your prompt reply!

I followed your instructions, i.e. putting the variable names into the radio box field as follows:

CE_SUBJECT_FACE2FACE |CE_SUBJECT_ONLINE |CE_SUBJECT_REWRITING |CE_SUBJECT_OTHER

Then in the ja-JP.com_contact_enhanced.ini and en-GB.com_contact_enhanced.ini I defined the values of the variables as follows:

CE_SUBJECT_FACE2FACE=I'm interested in one-to-one lessons with Paul
CE_SUBJECT_ONLINE=I'm interested in online lessons with Paul
CE_SUBJECT_REWRITING=I'm interested in the rewriting service
CE_SUBJECT_OTHER=Other

But on the front-end, the radio boxes appear as the names of the variables not the values of the variables (see pau.lu/main/index.php?option=c...contact&id=1&Itemid=67&lang=en )

Could you please let me know what I am doing wrong?

Kind regards

Paul

Hi Douglas,

I just solved this issue.

It was to do with trailing spaces before or after the dividing lines between the variables.

I copied and pasted the example you provided:

CE_SUBJECT_FACE2FACE |CE_SUBJECT_ONLINE |CE_SUBJECT_REWRITING |CE_SUBJECT_OTHER

In this case only CE_SUBJECT_OTHER was rendered correctly as there was no trailing space after the preceding |

If one removes all the trailing spaces thusly:

CE_SUBJECT_FACE2FACE|CE_SUBJECT_ONLINE|CE_SUBJECT_REWRITING|CE_SUBJECT_OTHER
The variables render correctly.

Regards

Paul
