Support Forum

Every time that you post a problem, PLEASE add the Joomla and the extension's versions and revisions (for example: Joomla 3.3.6, Contact Enhanced 3.3.5), PHP version and Server's Operating System. If you only manage only one site it is easier if you edit your profile and just add that information to your signature. Don't forget to add a detailed description of the problem. If possible, write down all steps to simulate the problem.

Before submitting a new post, PLEASE make sure you are running the latest version, test in different browsers (IE, FF, Chrome,..) and clear Joomla and browser's cache after every change you make.

Also, most questions are already answered in our FAQ and in iFAQ and Contact Enhanced documentation pages.

× Contact Enhanced is a contact component manager created to replace Joomla! core contacts component and add lots of advantages and new features (see Features ) and it offers many plugins and modules for several different purposes,

13 years 9 months ago - 13 years 9 months ago #3542 by blue_Shift
i can't find the custom field class in validate.css, and I need to restyle a custom field, which is currently too narrow.

Wait... i think I see something in a help file after some additional searching

Dear blue_shift,

Just for the record, you can create the rules below depending on which field type you want to change:
.ce-cf-container input{}
.ce-cf-container textarea{}
.ce-cf-container select{}

There are some additional information here:
ideal.fok.com.br/joomla-extens...e-the-style-look-and-feel.html

You can also create your own css rules. FireBug < getfirebug.com > might help you .

Sincere regards,

I want to have three or four rows of fields, which will have uneven columns....and identical field names. Can I style by adding an absolute or other css position? And can I identify the field by field ID #, since field names will be the same? See below for desired effect.

First name..............Grade....Date of birth

btw: I am having to manually clear server caches for my changes to take effect.

Dear blue_shift,

1- To add multiple columns please watch this screencast:
ideal.fok.com.br/joomla-extens...-fields/78-basic-features.html

2- Where do you want to identify the fields by ID#? In the email?
- In the HTML email template you can retrieve any submitted field by adding the syntax {post:FIELD_NAME} where FIELD_NAME is the the name attribute in the HTML field. You will have to get that from the HTML code source. In order to accomplish that I recommend you to use FireBug < getfirebug.com >

For most custom fields the syntax will be {post:cf_ID} where ID is the ID# found in the custom field manager;

that video doesn't explain how to get three columns of *unequal* widths... ie, 50% - 15% - 35%.

Dear Blue_shift,

I've added a new 15% option, so you can do 50% - 15% - 33%. The total will be 98%, however that's good because the columns in CE never sum 100% in order to avoid compatibility issues with Internet Explorer.

I'm working on some other changes for Contact Enhanced. Can you wait a couple more hours so I can create only one new update package?

Best wishes,

Dear blue_shift,

I still haven't finished the other changes, therefore I cannot create a new build and it is almost Sabbath.
I'll give you instructions on how to change it.

1- Open the CSS file [Joomla]/components/com_contact_enhanced/assets/css/validate.css
2- Add the line below anywhere:
.ce-fltwidth-15{width:15%}
3- upload the file attached to [Joomla]/administrator/components/com_contact_enhanced/custom_fields/custom_fields.xml

That's it.

Have a great weekend.
