Every time that you post a problem, PLEASE add the Joomla and the extension's versions and revisions (for example: Joomla 3.3.6, Contact Enhanced 3.3.5), PHP version and Server's Operating System. If you only manage only one site it is easier if you edit your profile and just add that information to your signature. Don't forget to add a detailed description of the problem. If possible, write down all steps to simulate the problem.

Before submitting a new post, PLEASE make sure you are running the latest version, test in different browsers (IE, FF, Chrome,..) and clear Joomla and browser's cache after every change you make.

Also, most questions are already answered in our FAQ and in iFAQ and Contact Enhanced documentation pages.

Joomla 4: "No Contacts in Category" message not showing using module

If I list contacts in a category with no contacts using a menu link I get a notice to say there are no contacts. If I list the same category using a module there is no notice.

Dear Mick,

I've created a new package for you with the latest changes.

By default, not even the module title should be displayed when there are no contacts in the category. I'm not sure why your template is displaying the module title. I've just tested with the core template Cassiopeia and it worked properly. The Category Module has always worked like that.

Anyway, I've implemented this feature for you. It will display the message "There's no contact to display" when the Component setting "Empty Categories" is set to show (under the Category tab);

I'll send you a new package to your email in a few minutes.

Best regards,

Thanks, look forward to the update. In the screenshot the title in light blue is displayed by the pagebuilder.

I have another problem between using menu links to categories vs using a module: viewing contacts in a category via a menu link I get the the thumbnail, but with the same display settings in a module the thumbnail image doesn't display.

I don't use the core Cassiopeia template as it is too inflexible.

Forget the thumbnail image display issue - now sorted. I'd missed that the Show Image Yes option hadn't saved.

Dear Mickelb,

I forwarded the new package over 3 hours ago.

Now I understand why you are getting the Module title,... I only mentioned Cassiopeia template for testing reasons.

I did email you about another issue using modules to display contacts in a category - I can't set the number of contacts to show on one page and have page navigation controls.

Under the Filtering Tab set the Count parameter to limit the number of contacts to show.
The module doesn't have the option to display Page Navigation controls.

There isn't much point in only displaying some of the contacts with no means to move on to other pages? I had expected the same display options for modules as with menu links and would definitely want page navigation if not showing the full list of contacts on a single page.

Some of our contact lists have sevral hundred contacts, so a "bottomless" page is not acceptable to users.

Can I request page navigation in modules as an upgrade soon please?

Dear mickelb,

We've created this module to display contacts from selected categories, however it's not meant to replace the Contact Enhanced Category Menu item.

Creating a navigation option would require loading more contacts via Ajax, without reloading the page. This is not in our current to-do list, but we can implement it for you as a custom job.

If you are interested, please send us an email using the Support > Contact Form or just reply to this Forum New post notification email.

Douglas,

Thanks for looking at this. I have worked around it using multiple modules, so a bit clunky but it does the job.

As always with these applications it is difficult, if not impossible, to meet everyone's needs.
