Every time that you post a problem, PLEASE add the Joomla and the extension's versions and revisions (for example: Joomla 3.3.6, Contact Enhanced 3.3.5), PHP version and Server's Operating System. If you only manage only one site it is easier if you edit your profile and just add that information to your signature. Don't forget to add a detailed description of the problem. If possible, write down all steps to simulate the problem.

Before submitting a new post, PLEASE make sure you are running the latest version, test in different browsers (IE, FF, Chrome,..) and clear Joomla and browser's cache after every change you make.

Also, most questions are already answered in our FAQ and in iFAQ and Contact Enhanced documentation pages.

I am trying to remove the text at the top of my contact form that says; "Fields marked with * are required."

I am not sure if this is a setting in the component that I can edit from within Joomla or if I should FTP in and edit a file directly. If I need to edit the file, could you please provide the file path for me?

I am using J1.5

Dear Stefanrest,

You can find open the language file, find:
REQUIRED_SIGN_DESC="Fields marked with <span class="requiredsign">*</span> are required."
and replace with:
REQUIRED_SIGN_DESC="&nbsp;"

Thanks for the reply, but I am still having problems here. I am changing the text per your example and I am not seeing any changes on the front end. Is it possible I am changing the wrong language file?

I am using Contact Enhanced - Version: 1.5.10.1 Version in J1.5

Dear Stefan,

Make sure you are editing the correct file:
[Path to Joomla 1.5]/language/en-GB/en-GB.com_contact_enhanced.ini
Some people get confused with:
[Path to Joomla 1.5]/components/com_contact_enhanced/language/en-GB/en-GB.com_contact_enhanced.ini

You are using a very old version. Please update.

Stefan, I believe Douglas meant the following line: CE_FORM_REQUIRED_SIGN_LABEL=" "

For the legend "Fields marked with * are required." not to be displayed. Right?
