Support Forum

Every time that you post a problem, PLEASE add the Joomla and the extension's versions and revisions (for example: Joomla 3.3.6, Contact Enhanced 3.3.5), PHP version and Server's Operating System. If you only manage only one site it is easier if you edit your profile and just add that information to your signature. Don't forget to add a detailed description of the problem. If possible, write down all steps to simulate the problem.

Before submitting a new post, PLEASE make sure you are running the latest version, test in different browsers (IE, FF, Chrome,..) and clear Joomla and browser's cache after every change you make.

Also, most questions are already answered in our FAQ and in iFAQ and Contact Enhanced documentation pages.

Duplication of module

12 years 7 months ago - 12 years 7 months ago #8180 by keardley
Hi there,

Just installed the M2C and love the concept. Followed all instructions but having a small problem with the module being duplicated.

The first appearance of the module is obviously being called by the component and the module position I've requested (user1).

The second appearance of the module is being called by the module manager and the fact that the module is already published in user1.

I've tried unpublishing the module in the module manager but then it isn't found by the component.

I've also tried calling a position where no module is currently published like banner5 but because of my template styling and borders around articles, I'm getting a blank position with a border.

I feel like I must be missing a very basic step so sorry if the solution is really obvious but any advice would be appreciated.

Many thanks,
Karen

When published in user1

Dear Karen,

In the module manager you can actually type in your custom module position.

Try to do that to see how it goes.

Sorry to hijack, but I'm also having problems with duplication...the module is published in the "top" position and to display only in that menu, but selecting that position to load with m2c results in that module also appearing in mainbody

Dear pan111,

That's because the "top" position already exists in your template, please use a custom position in M2C and publish your modules to this position as well.

Dear pan111,

Which Joomla version are you using?

In Joomla 1.5 you just have to type in the select list (yes, this select list allows you to type in);
In Joomla 1.6, 1.7, 2.5 there is a Position box where you can also type the custom position in, in other words, you do not need to click on the "Select Position" button

Hi,

I also get the same problem. The module will be displayed two times on a menu page.
-I create a module, set its position, e,g, sidebar a
-Then create a M2C menu, select position to load is sidebar a
-Result: the module is appeared in sidebar a and in the main body of the menu page.

I see that it'll be good if can select which module to load in M2C, the position is defined by the module itself

I use joomla 2.5

Please advise if I can eliminate the duplication of module present when using M2C

Thanks!

Dear Patrick,

Then it is because your template also has a position called sidebar. It is very simple to fix this issue.

Edit the module and set it to show on a different module position. It is advisable to create a new position by typing the position in the select box.

Dear Support,

I have also tried it before, it meant selecting different position for the module vs. the menu M2C. However I get unexpected result because the menu M2C does not know which module to load. As in the interface, the menu M2C loads the module based on its position, not by module name! Please see the files attached! and have your solution!

Regards,
Patrick

Dear Patrick,

That's how it should work. By displaying a module position you should be able to display one or more modules assigned to the same position.

I'm not sure why it is not working properly for you. If you'd like you can create a backup and provide super administrator access, so I can take a closer look.

Best regards,

Dear Support,

It works. However it displays 2 times for one module assigned on the M2C menu page.

I would reduce the duplication of its presence to only 1 time.

Hope you get my point!
