Support Forum

Every time that you post a problem, PLEASE add the Joomla and the extension's versions and revisions (for example: Joomla 3.3.6, Contact Enhanced 3.3.5), PHP version and Server's Operating System. If you only manage only one site it is easier if you edit your profile and just add that information to your signature. Don't forget to add a detailed description of the problem. If possible, write down all steps to simulate the problem.

Before submitting a new post, PLEASE make sure you are running the latest version, test in different browsers (IE, FF, Chrome,..) and clear Joomla and browser's cache after every change you make.

Also, most questions are already answered in our FAQ and in iFAQ and Contact Enhanced documentation pages.

Hello,
concerning the new European regulation (GDPR), is a new version of Ajax Contact planned or should we look for another extension?

Thank you,

Lorenzo

Dear Lorenzo,

Ajax Contact does not store any contact information, therefore it does not necessarily requires any change. We've been working on Contact Enhanced Component compliance with GDPR and it is already compatible with it. We'll implement a GDPR checkbox within the next week in Ajax Contact, so if will be easier for users to set it up in case there's any need. In the meanwhile please check Contact Enhanced and GDPR Compliance article .

Best regards,

Hello Douglas,
... since apparently Ajax Contact doesn't store any data, what will be the purpose of this checkbox?

Thank you

Lorenzo

Dear Lorenzo,

For the next version we'll be implementing an option to allow you to collect the user's IP address and/or location based on IP address.

In case you collect this data you should notify your users, even though you won't store any information.

Best regards,

Hello again Douglas,
... maybe the concept is not yet clear to me.
Since the user will insert his email address, his phone number, what is the purpose to collect his IP address? … especially that is a dynamic address...
Thank you
Lorenzo

Related to this, we are in need of a contact form and CAPTCHA for an EU Joomla 2.5.x site. The issue we have is that a lot of CAPTCHA modules/plugins set a cookie upon page load of the contact page, something not allowed under GDPR/PECR if the visitor has already declined cookies on their first visit. The stock Joomla contact form doesn't set a cookie when loading (using EU e-Privacy plugin) but does require a cookie to send the form, which we have a workaround for by instructing the visitor to temporarily accept cookies in order to submit the enquiry, then decline after if they desire. Using google reCAPTCHA, we also have to warn visitors that once they click the "I'm not a robot" checkbox, they will get a cookie immediately.

Question on your contact form and CAPTCHA: Do either automatically/require setting a cookie upon page load? In other words, can we use your components and be compliant with GDPR/PECR no-cookies regs? We can live with requiring them to temporarily accept cookies in order to submit the form, but can't have it load cookies on page load.

Thanks.

Dear neilw,

Ajax Contact, Contact Enhanced and SecurImage Captcha plugin do no use cookies.

Old versions of Contact Enhanced for Joomla 2.5 might use a cookie for session checking (security feature).

Even though our extensions work for Joomla 2.5 we are not releasing new version for this platform, therefore we advise all users to upgrade to Joomla 3.x as soon as possible.

Best regards,

Thank you. We will give it a try. We do understand that we need to update Joomla on a couple of our clients' J 2.5.x websites, but that will take a major undertaking with these complex sites, so due to budget and time constraints, our clients have asked us to wait. But GDPR/PECR is something that can't wait!

We are trying to clean the specific UK website of all google items that try to load a google cookie either on page load or simply clicking an element like reCAPTCHA. Plus the Joomla base 2.5.x contact form requires a session cookie to send the form, which requires visitors who have declined cookies to accept cookies. Not a huge thing, but still if your plugins/components can give us a better/nicer/better-featured contact form, a good/effective CAPTCHA system, and avoid cookies and google, that would be great.

We will go ahead and purchase the Ajax Contact and see if we can get it to work. Thanks for your help!

@iorbita, we've released a new version today. In the module options now there's a "Show Privacy" option. You can enable it and display your own "consent" text. We've decided not to add an option to load IP Based Location for now.

@neilw and @iorbita, Let us know if you need any further assistance.

Best wishes,
