Support Forum

Every time that you post a problem, PLEASE add the Joomla and the extension's versions and revisions (for example: Joomla 3.3.6, Contact Enhanced 3.3.5), PHP version and Server's Operating System. If you only manage only one site it is easier if you edit your profile and just add that information to your signature. Don't forget to add a detailed description of the problem. If possible, write down all steps to simulate the problem.

Before submitting a new post, PLEASE make sure you are running the latest version, test in different browsers (IE, FF, Chrome,..) and clear Joomla and browser's cache after every change you make.

Also, most questions are already answered in our FAQ and in iFAQ and Contact Enhanced documentation pages.

Reply-To header for contact forms

8 years 6 months ago - 8 years 6 months ago #20363 by kelvinhughes
Hi,

It would be nice to have a Reply-To option for contacts. Reason being. I use 'no-reply@sub.domain.com' to send out emails. This domain is only used for sending out emails. So a Reply-To header for people trying to reply would be great.

Thank you.

Dear kelvinhughes,

You can accomplish this by going to Components -> Contact Enhanced -> Options and under the Contact Form tab set Email Sender to "Use Global". This will use the email in Joomla Global Configuration to send the email, but will use the email in the contact as the reply to email address.

Best regards,

I am set up this way, but it isn't working - the recipient's reply is coming to me (the superadmin)

Dear blue_Shift,

That's odd. Is your username linked to the contact?
The mailer should not be relevant in this case, but are you using SMTP as the Mailer in Joomla Global Configuration?

Not using SMTP (and I never do - I usually stick with php). But this is the first time this has happened. I changed the toggle to contact to see what happens (or not).

Dear blue_Shift,

Can you try to use SMTP? I don't usually trust plain PHP Mail function because it does not authenticate the sender and some mail servers actually change the sender and/or recipient to a "trusted" or known email address by the server.

Ah, the problem is the host has changed the A record - though they are redirecting the site internally, the client hasn't updated on their registrar.
