Every time that you post a problem, PLEASE add the Joomla and the extension's versions and revisions (for example: Joomla 3.3.6, Contact Enhanced 3.3.5), PHP version and Server's Operating System. If you only manage only one site it is easier if you edit your profile and just add that information to your signature. Don't forget to add a detailed description of the problem. If possible, write down all steps to simulate the problem.

Before submitting a new post, PLEASE make sure you are running the latest version, test in different browsers (IE, FF, Chrome,..) and clear Joomla and browser's cache after every change you make.

Also, most questions are already answered in our FAQ and in iFAQ and Contact Enhanced documentation pages.

404 after module form submit when URL rewriting is turned on

3 years 11 months ago #25467 by lucidfox
Hi!

I am using the CE contact form module to load the form in my site. I have set it to redirect to a thank you page after submit. When I have URL rewriting turned off in the global configuration, it works (though it doesn't seem to link up to the menu item id).

However, when I turn URL rewriting on, I get redirected to MYSITE/component/contactenhanced/contact/1, even when the module is set to reload the page or do a javascript alert. Since I don't use any other aspect of CE right now, this is an error 404.

I only have a single page site for now, so I've turned off URL rewriting in the meantime, but how do I fix this?

Thank you!

Crystal

Dear Crystal,

Unless the module is set to redirect to another page (an article for example) it will always load the Contact URL (with the Thank you Page or Alert) after submit. However, it shouldn't load a 404 page.

A possible fix is to add a Hidden Menu item for the Single Contact you want to display and then, in the module options under the Advanced Tab, set the option Set Itemid to the menu item you've just created.

Best regards,

Hi Douglas,

Thank you for your quick reply. It's set to redirect to an article with the link in the index.php?etc format, and the article does have a hidden menu item associated with it.

I don't want to display the single contact page - that's just where it's trying to redirect when I have URL rewriting turned on, even when the module is set specifically to not redirect. It works as expected when I have URL rewriting turned off, but that's not a good long-term solution for me.

Thank you,
Crystal

Dear Crystal,

I see no reason why CE would behave this way. Can you please create a backup and provide Super Administrator access as well as FTP access to /components/com_contactenhanced?

You can send the credentials using the Support » Contact Form or just reply to this forum post email notification.

Best regards,

Hi Douglas,

Looks like it was an .htaccess error in the end. I had to regenerate it and after that it seems to have fixed the problem. Weird that it only affected the form, but, here we are!

Thanks for your help and patience.

Crystal
